The idea took shape in 2015, during the doctoral research of Ali Veysel Özden, MD, PhD. His thesis focused on the autonomic nervous system and the vagus, work he later expanded in his book Mystery of Medicine: Autonomic Nervous System.
His research revealed the potential of vagus activation, and a gap: there was no technology that met people's needs in a reliable, affordable and accessible way.
That realization became the starting point for Vagustim.
