Stress is a root cause of many modern health challenges. Yet most existing solutions focus solely on relieving symptoms rather than addressing the underlying issue. At Vagustim, our mission is to target stress and its effects at the source. We believe that vagus activation holds the key to restoring balance in the body and supporting long-term wellness.
The idea for Vagustim was born during the doctoral research of Ali Veysel Özden, MD, PhD in 2015. His thesis focused on the autonomic system and the vagus. Building on this work, Dr. Özden later published a book titled Mystery of Medicine: Autonomic Nervous System. His research revealed the potential of vagus activation, yet he identified a gap in the market—there was no technology that met users’ needs in a reliable, affordable, and accessible way. This realization marked the beginning of Vagustim’s development..
Medical Doctor Ali Veysel Özden and Engineer Ali Can Erk joined forces in 2017 to develop the first prototype of Vagustim. In 2018, the project was recognized as a finalist in the Big Bang Startup Contest. The following year, Vagustim secured its first investment round from corporate venture capital firms and angel investors. In 2020, it was named one of the Top 5 Emerging Neurotechnology Startups globally by StartUs Insights, selected from among 188 startups worldwide.
